Can't remember whether I ever blogged about the solitary oak tree that was ripped out when they straightened the road about 6 years ago, as a safety measure (ie people wanted to drive faster). It still gets me now. They ripped it out when 'clearing in readiness' and it must have been really old. 3 hugs wide. It was the last real tree this end of the peninsula, and now the road runs about 50m away from where the tree would have been. They could have left it be with a little foresight!!
Really hard thing is, no-one else seemed to notice or care. Nice to find there are others who Do.
