Green shoots

Whatever the media have to say about green shoots, sometimes they appear just when you aren't expecting them.

I spotted these harbingers of spring when I was bringing in the shopping.
They were hiding in the leaf mulch we put down on the front bed last year. I suppose that tells you something about the circle of life: the decayed remains of an Autumn of a few years ago now support the promise of life in the Spring to come.
